Abstract: This video captures the initiatives of Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in building disaster resilient communities in the Koshi River basin area, Nepal. A Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR) programme was implemented in the 25 communities of 5 districts (Saptari, Sunsari, Udayapur, Bhojpur and Khotang) between 2013 and 2016 targeting around 28,000 people. The programme has contributed in building disaster resilient characteristics based on the 9 minimum characteristics of a disaster resilient communities as described by the Flagship 4 of Nepal Risk Reduction Consortium (NRRC).
